Notice for the 2015 AGM of AICA Ireland

The 2015 AGM of AICA Ireland will take place in the Royal Hibernian Academy, Ely Place on Friday, November 27th at 6:00pm (Arrival between 5:30 and 6:00pm)

The Agenda is as follows:

  1. Minutes of the 2014 AGM
  2. President’s Report
  3. Treasurer’s Report
  4. Election of New Members
  5. Election of Officers
  6. A.O.B
    1. We will take the opportunity of the AGM to propose setting up an events sub-committee who will look after the quarterly meetings. As we have previously discussed, these meetings should coincide with events that are of interest to our members. Delays have been caused due to workloads of members and we feel that a sub-committee can assist us in the future to avoid such delays.
  7. As the discussion around members current writings and publications was of huge interest at our last quarterly meeting, we would like to introduce this as standard.  This can be quite informal and open up topics that are of interest… and keep us informed on current writing.

If you have nominations for new members then please forward them by return to – please bear in mind the conditions laid down for membership as outlined on our site.

The AGM coincides with an invitation only event in the RHA to which our members are cordially invited.  We are very grateful to AICA Members Gemma Tipton and Patrick Murphy for arranging this. The event starts at 7:30pm

AICA Ireland Members Meeting rescheduled

aicaFollowing a request from members, the summer AICA Ireland members meeting has been rescheduled to later in the year.

At our last meeting we looked at slight changes to the agenda. As well as providing information on AICA Ireland business, we found the informal conversation around members’ current areas of interest and their current writing, research, or sectoral reports to be both interesting and also provided much room for discussion.  We would like to continue this at future meetings by adding time for people to talk about their work and also current areas of concern in art criticism and writing.

We are currently working on having the next meeting as part of a larger event taking place in Dublin. We are also preparing for the AICA Ireland AGM and are currently open to agenda items that members would like to see.

AICA Ireland Website & Members News

aicaThe final work is now complete on the AICA Ireland website.

After extensive redesign, the site now offers information on AICA Ireland and AICA International activities as well as details concerning Irish artists in Exhibitions and Events, Conferences, Talks, Calls for Proposals, and more general news from the wider art world. The site also acts as a first stage for the formal creation of an AICA Ireland archive with members being provided with an area to maintain an up to date bibliography and professional resume. The weekly news goes out on Sunday morning to all paid-up members of AICA Ireland copied to AICA International head office in Paris.

We are very grateful to the organisations who have allowed us to use their information in the creation of this site and hope that it will become a useful resource for critics and writers.
