Welcome to the Neighbourhood 2016: OPEN DAY, Askeaton, Co. Limerick

Open Day: Saturday 23 July 2016, 3pm
Askeaton Contemporary Arts, Askeaton, Co. Limerick

Askeaton Contemporary Arts host the eleventh annual Welcome to the Neighbourhood festival, with Irish and international artists residing and working in the County Limerick town throughout July 2016. Public events, free and open to all, occur during the artists’ stay, with a special open day on Saturday 23 July, starting at 3pm, featuring artworks to be encountered throughout Askeaton.

Resident artists this year are Fiona Marron and Fiona Reilly from Dublin, Limerick’s Ramon Kassam, and David Bestué of Barcelona. Along with many other visitors, they will be joined by Alan Counihan of Kilkenny, Catalina Lozano of Bogota, Filip Van Dingenen from Brussels and Jorge Satorre from Mexico, Limerick’s Liz Ryan and Martyn Turner, cartoonist for The Irish Times, each of whom are developing new artworks as part of our ongoing state centenary programme entitled The Askeaton Commune.

Celebrate the work of our resident artists, as they each present new projects in venues throughout Askeaton. A walking tour of Askeaton will guide you around and begins at the Civic Trust, accompanied by resident artists and curators and hosted by artist Sean Lynch.
